She is, however, unusually strong -- something which is referenced by characters throughout the series.
Inventory: Just the clothes on her back

🦋 Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.

What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.

Dee would want to be something generally considered to be well-liked and beautiful. She would choose, if she could, to be a mermaid, a valkyrie, or even a unicorn, so that she could finally (hopefully) be loved, admired, and accepted by others. Dee's self-esteem is extremely low, thanks to years of abuse at the hands of her friends -- often referred to as the Gang. They'll find any excuse to belittle and bully her, and becoming something beautiful and popular would make her feel as though she's risen above them. Of course, her abrasive, cruel, and mean-spirited personality would immediately sabotage her attempts at becoming popular, as people would see that her beauty only runs skin-deep. And, of course, she would try to find a way to make those people look like the bad guys instead of her, because she'd rather blame someone else than look at herself in the mirror. She knows she's done many bad things in her time, but she'll bury her feelings rather than confront them, and will always convince herself that her horrible actions were justified. She'd want to identify with the pretty mythological creatures, but she would feel intense jealousy and anger toward anyone perceived as prettier than herself. And she'd always be questioning whether she's a 'hot' mermaid or an average one. Her self-esteem issues are through the roof.

In reality, she would identify more with the Furies, as she frequently feels frustrated over the Gang going without punishment for their acts of abuse against her. Her anger is often dismissed, her boundaries are frequently disrespected, and she despairs at the way the guys have so often sabotaged her dreams. She wants justice, so she'd love the Furies.

Dee would dread being anything bird-like. Her friends frequently call her a bird, so being a bird-like anything would make her feel ugly, gangly, and weird. It would add an extra layer of cruelty to the Gang's taunts.

If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?

Dee would wish to be famous. Her biggest dream is to become a well-known actress, so she can prove to her terrible family and her equally awful friends that she isn't the ugly loser they all make her out to be. Becoming famous and being adored by the world while living in luxury, surrounded by riches, would be the ultimate revenge for Dee. Ideally, it would make all those bullies back in school feel bad about the way they treated her, and it would show the Gang that she is so much better than them. It would prove that she is talented, and beautiful, and funny, and all the things people say she's not.

Dee is often hell-bent on revenge and holds onto all perceived slights against her. Even if it's something as small as someone taking a chair she'd claimed as hers, Dee will hold onto that anger until she has the chance to punch that person in the face. And becoming famous is the ultimate act of revenge, in her eyes. Dee isn't necessarily good at acting, but she refuses to accept that, because she can't. Fame is the ultimate goal, and she assumes people are just trying to tear her down when they say she's untalented.

Having her wish granted means she doesn't have to do the hard work or attempt to beat the low probability of actually making it in show business. Dee would love to become famous without working to achieve her dream, but she will take credit for her fame. She'd never admit that she'd had a wish granted, because that would make her seem a lot less impressive.

If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

Dee would most likely follow her brother, Dennis, into another realm, despite her hatred for him. Their relationship is volatile, toxic, co-dependent, and highly dysfunctional. Dennis wants to control Dee and often sabotages her happiness. He'll point out everything negative about her newest partner until she starts seeing those flaws and ultimately dumps the guy. He'll demean her so she feels bad about herself and starts to believe the things he says about her. And Dee hates Dennis. She'll fantasize about shooting him, spill scalding stew on him while he's in the hospital, and she'll roll her eyes and respond with a 'whatever' when Dennis says he loves her during a potentially life-threatening situation.

And yet, despite her hatred for him, Dee doesn't leave him. She still tries to impress him, and by extension, his awful friends. She does terrible things to prove to him that she isn't a failure, hurting herself and others as she strives for acceptance. She lets Dennis and Mac stay at her home after they set fire to their apartment, in the hopes that he might finally accept her, and after so many years of putting up with his crap, she still sticks around, still works at Paddy's. She could leave Dennis, but then she'd have no one in her life, and negative attention is better than no attention at all. Being in the company of Dennis is better than being alone. Dennis is terrible, but at least she generally knows what to expect from him.

Dee and Dennis are very similar. Dennis may have more self-esteem than Dee, but she has shown that she understands his thought process at times. They both consider themselves to be more intelligent than others; they're both manipulative, selfish, and cruel. They both have anger issues, and although Dee hates Dennis, she does seem to show some level of concern for him at times. The fact that they 'get' each other keeps Dee from leaving too. Dennis and Dee have an understanding about the world that others do not.

Dee would follow Dennis because she'll do anything to prove herself to him. He's her brother, and she hates him, but he's all she has.

Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?

Dee would immediately hunt down whoever had benefited from her inheritance money and begin causing problems for them. Dee is a selfish, entitled woman who will talk down to people, and she'll always seize what she thinks she's owed. She's willing to dig up a grave to get some jewellery, and when she thinks Frank is becoming forgetful, she has no problem tricking him into giving her money. She would find out who used her money and shoehorn herself into their life, likely claiming that they owe her for their comfortable lifestyle. If the poor person argues that they worked hard for their lifestyle, and that Frank's money is long gone, Dee would ignore that and insist that they owe her anyway.

As much as she hates the Gang, she would feel lost and lonely without them. She never leaves and constantly seeks their approval, even though she rarely ever gets it. She doesn't want to be alone, and doesn't want to end up in a situation where she can't turn to Frank for money when she needs it, so she stays.

She will pretend that she doesn't give a shit that the Gang is dead and gone, and for a while, that might actually be true. Then reality will hit, and she'll come to miss these awful, terrible people. From birth, Dee has faced constant rejection and ridicule from family and peers. Despite being a twin, her mother describes her as a disappointment and a mistake, while showing favoritism towards her brother. At one point, Dee reveals that her mother once told her she wasn't pretty enough to enter beauty pageants, so Dee would enter them herself to prove her mother wrong. It was a cry for attention that, ultimately, got ignored and would help shape Dee into the insecure, validation-seeking woman she is today. Add to the mix a mostly absent father who liked to torment both siblings for the sake of tormenting them, and constant bullying in high school, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

She hangs around with a group she calls the Gang and constantly seeks that same validation and attention from them that she sought from her mother. They frequently bully and belittle her, calling her names and ignoring her, but negative attention is better than no attention, so Dee sticks around. She reacts to the Gang's jabs with quiet anger a lot of the time. She may shake her head, roll her eyes, or glare at whoever has just ridiculed her, silently fuming but ultimately letting the moment pass. Sometimes, she's more vocal in her anger, but her protests often go unheard.

Dee is so emotionally numb to the Gang's behavior, that sometimes she'll accept their actions and words without question. Dee also tends to be in denial about many things, such as her abilities as an actress. She believes she's a good actress and that people expect her to be funny. In reality, she's grossly incompetent, shameless, and offensive. She also has this terrible habit of creating "characters" that are generally offensive stereotypes. Whenever Dee lands herself a role in a movie, she becomes a diva, and sabotages her chances of building rapport and earning more roles. In one episode, she has the opportunity to play an extra in an M. Night Shyamalan movie. Her refusal to listen to directions and her desire to be "seen" cost her the role. The Gang may sabotage Dee's life, but Dee is incompetent and pretty good at ruining things for herself with her impulsiveness and her refusal to listen. She doesn't handle pressure very well either. She becomes overwhelmed by her need to impress people, gets nervous, and starts gagging or vomiting. She's afraid of failure but always creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Sometimes, reality hits her, and she succumbs to a depressive state. They can be pretty severe, as highlighted in The Gang Broke Dee (Season 9, Episode). Dee fully anticipates the Gang's insults and tells them that she might as well throw herself in front of a bus "because I'm so ugly I can't even get a bus to hit on me." In the same episode, Dee performs stand-up, and her humor is largely self-deprecating, indicating a high level of self-loathing and insecurity. In Chardee Macdennis and Paddy's Has a Jumper (Season 14, Episode 8), it is hinted that she has contemplated suicide. Dee's mental state appears to deteriorate over time, and she becomes angrier and more vindictive as the show progresses. This deterioration is likely a result of the Gang's constant abuse and her growing insecurities. She has endured physical, verbal, and emotional abuse at the hands of the gang for years, which would have a negative impact on one's mental health.

But while one may sympathize with Dee's tendency to become the Gang's emotional punching bag, she demonstrates that she is more than capable of being a selfish, vindictive, abusive person. To say that Deandra has anger issues would be an understatement. If she feels wronged or slighted in any way, she hangs on to that offense, stews on it, and then finds a way to get her revenge -- often in much worse ways than the perceived offense against her. If someone takes a vacant seat that Dee has (in her mind) already claimed as hers, she will punch them in the face hours later. She'll threaten to kill everyone with anthrax because she didn't get a Valentine's Day card. And if she feels slighted by a man who shows regret after sleeping with her, she'll manipulate him, so he accidentally does a striptease for his daughter. Even the Gang points out that Dee hit rock bottom by doing that last one, and she responds by saying she doesn't want to think about it. Again, she numbs herself to her terrible actions and deludes herself into thinking that she's a good person when she really isn't at all. She can be remorseless, failing to acknowledge her shortcomings because she tricks herself into believing that her actions are justified.

She has a hair-trigger temper, going from friendly and relatively tolerable to vindictive and rage-filled at the drop of a hat. If someone does or says something that plays on her insecurities, her demeanor changes instantly, and she becomes obsessed with bringing that person down. She has jealous tendencies too. She hates seeing people -- especially other women -- succeeding because it highlights that her life is a neverending dumpster fire, littered with failures and rejections. She's narcissistic and lacks empathy for others. She causes the downfall of a priest named Matthew Mara because she wants to prove herself to her father, Frank. Dee shows zero remorse for her actions. She flirts with Matthew, convinces him to leave the priesthood, and ruins his life. And she doesn't see why this is wrong. She never apologizes for her actions, and even seems to forget the harm she's caused, as though it was never a big deal for her.

Dee is manipulative, selfish, and scheming. For example, in Who Pooped the Bed (Season Four, Episode 7), Dee decides that she wants to reenact the friendships portrayed in Sex and the City. Of course, because Dee is a terrible person who has no friends, she decides to recruit the Waitress -- a woman who Charlie has incessantly stalked. The Waitress tells Dee that she hates her and does not want to go out with her. Dee refuses to acknowledge or respect her protests and instead reveals that she has Charlie's creepy notebook that details all of the Waitress's activities. Dee uses this notebook to manipulate the Waitress, convincing the poor woman that she can have the notebook if she goes out with her. She also insists that the Waitress drink alcohol or, at least, hold a Cosmopolitan in her hand, despite the Waitress's insistence that she has a drinking problem. Dee completely disregards the Waitress's comfort and mental well-being because she wants to reenact a TV show. She is a schemer and will do whatever she feels she needs to do to achieve a goal. Those goals are usually money-oriented, like the time she tried to scam the IRS by pretending the baby she birthed during her surrogacy was actually her dependent. Of course, she gets caught out right away and spends the entire episode trying to get out of being audited. She goes to extreme lengths during her schemes too. In the same episode, she pretends that the child has died so the IRS agent will go away. This woman is willing to get chili powder blown into her eyes to make herself cry so that her bullshit seems more convincing. This is also a woman who is willing to marry her (non-biological) father to try and scam her real dad into giving her money. She's certainly motivated, but it's usually for self-serving reasons like greed and her constant need for attention and praise.

Dee tends to function better when she's away from Dennis. When Dennis leaves at the end of season 12 and Cindy joins the Gang, Dee appears to be thriving under her guidance and leadership. She appears more competent, and willing to listen when partnered with someone who doesn't constantly demean her. When she and Charlie go out on a double date with two wealthy siblings, she is seen laughing and genuinely having a good time which, again, is a rarity for her. Over the years, she has come to believe (or, at least, accept) Dennis's constant put-downs. However, she also tends to mirror Dennis's traits, whether it be calling herself a Golden Goddess when she feels particularly insulted or manipulating people into sleeping with her. Like Dennis, she can be predatory and she doesn't seem to understand this unless it is pointed out to her.

A few positive traits are lurking under all that awfulness, surprisingly enough. Dee demonstrates thoughtfulness towards others and a surprisingly open mind. She is supportive of Mac's homosexuality and tells him that he should come out of the closet because he'll feel so much better when he does. She is also happy to become a surrogate mother for a trans woman. Although she was most likely motivated by money more than anything else, it demonstrates an open mind and a shockingly supportive, thoughtful side that she rarely ever shows. When she has the child, she appears genuinely happy. Dee also shows concern for Charlie when he injures himself during Chardee MacDennis 2: Electric Boogaloo. Out of everyone in the Gang, she appears to look out for Charlie the most because she seems to like him that little bit more. When she's on her own with Charlie, she occasionally demonstrates an ability to care, and a calmer nature that seems to get snuffed out by all of those aforementioned toxic qualities. In The Gang Misses the Boat, she and Charlie admit that they feel pressured by the rest of the Gang to act in certain ways. She is supportive and even tells him that she's proud of him. In this scene, we see a rare, friendlier side of Dee where she isn't weighed down by her constant need to seek approval from the others. She demonstrates that she can act like a relatively normal person when she isn't with Dennis, Mac, and/or Frank.

She also acts as a voice of reason, on occasion, and has been seen calling out absurdities, bad decisions, and illogical statements. Keep in mind, however, that she only serves as a voice of reason to a group of people who often lack common sense, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. In Dennis and Dee's Mom is Dead (Season 3, Episode 3), she keeps yelling at the lawyer while he's reading her mother's will like she's addressing her mother directly. The lawyer has to repeatedly remind her that he's just reading the will, but she doesn't seem to grasp that. She may demonstrate a level of critical thinking, sometimes, but she's still an idiot.

She's also a giant hypocrite, and while she berates people for their ridiculous decisions, their beliefs, and actions, she tends to do the same things. She calls people out for using offensive language but uses it herself. She berates people for doing bad things, but also tends to do worse things without a second thought.

In summary, Deandra Reynolds is a bad person with limited emotional intelligence, narcissistic tendencies, and horrible self-esteem issues. She's often in denial about her incompetence and failures, and she constantly talks herself into believing that her extreme reactions are justified. She is capable of being a semi-decent human being, but this is only possible if she removes herself from the Gang. But she can't do that because deep down, she knows she has no one else. She knows she isn't liked by people, and knows she only has the Gang, and because she desperately wants to belong somewhere, she puts up with the Gang's abuse. She is a damaged woman and a remorseless asshole who sees abusive, toxic behavior as normal because that's all she really knows.

Roommates?: One or two would be fine! Two would be a challenge for her, as she's typically selfish and self-serving, and may cause trouble for whoever is stuck with her.

Triggers/sensitive topics you'd like to avoid?: Needles, nail/teeth removal, animal abuse

RP SAMPLES: Lab of Nature TDM

Heckin Game TDM

comments

She tends to do this best when she's seeking revenge on someone over a perceived slight, or when she's trying to prove herself to the rest of the gang.
Mathematics: Dee is surprisingly good at maths, demonstrating this in The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot.
Spanish: She speaks rudimentary Spanish. She's... not very good.
Bowling: The Gang Goes Bowling reveals that Dee is a proficient bowler.

Canon Abilities: Dee has no special abilities. However, she is unusually strong compared to the rest of the Gang. She unintentionally breaks things that shouldn't be easy to break, like game show buzzers, and the Gang struggles to carry a dead body up a mountain once she's no longer there to help them. She's also pretty good at manipulating situations to benefit her if given a chance, and she can drink more beer than any human really should.

Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Dee gets large, white bull horns and a long tail, like so, but it will be a shimmery gold. She'll also have claws and fangs!
Role Reasoning: This role suits Dee best because she is often selfishly motivated, cruel, and inconsiderate. She manipulates people and situations for her own benefit, and whenever she feels slighted, she will react in ways that are usually far worse than the perceived slight against her. Dee often numbs herself to her own terrible behavior, deluding herself into believing that she is a good person. Despite her cruel actions, she fails to understand why her actions are bad because she tricks herself into believing that she's justified in some way. She often believes the worst of people and makes negative assumptions about others based on her own traumatic experiences. She self-sabotages her own potential happiness by acting unkindly to good people.

I would like to explore how she might grow and flourish while separated from the Gang. Canon demonstrates that Dee is capable of being a better person when she isn't around the Gang. I don't believe that she will ever rise to become a legend, as her poison runs deep, but I'd like to see how she copes and (potentially) changes while being surrounded by people who are probably much better than the Gang.

★ Personality ★

I have chosen option 2!

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
[CW: emotional abuse]

Dee has several important relationships, but one of her most important and defining relationships is the one she has with her mother, Barbara Reynolds. Barbara describes Dee as a disappointment and a mistake while showing favoritism towards her twin brother, Dennis. Dee's mother has always been cold and emotionally abusive towards her. For example, at one point, Dee casually reveals that her mother once told her she wasn't pretty enough to enter beauty pageants, so Dee would enter them herself to prove her mother wrong (Season Seven, Episode Three). It was a cry for attention and validation that, ultimately, got ignored. Throughout Dee's life, her mother also insisted that "worst is first." Dee was born three minutes before Dennis, apparently making her the worst twin, and nothing Dee did could change her mind. When Barbara dies, she leaves her daughter nothing and calls her a disappointment and a mistake in the Will. Barbara leaves Dennis the mansion, reflecting the blatant favoritism bestowed on him. Dee's constant need for validation and attention stems from the emotional abuse she endured from her mother. She is deeply insecure, and her low self-esteem follows her into her adult life. Even though we don't see Barbara for very long in the series, her presence in Dee's life has a huge impact on who she has become. If her mother had treated her better as a child, she may not have developed this need to prove that she isn't a mistake or a disappointment and that she is worthy of love and attention.

If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?

Bad Blood would be number one on a Dee Reynolds playlist. The lines "'Cause baby, now we got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love", in particular, stand out to me because they remind me of some of Dee's relationships within the series. In The Gang Group Dates, Dee feels a connection with a guy and assumes that they're in love. She goes as far as to buy a promise ring for him. It's revealed that he didn't think they were dating at all, and this sends Dee on a mission to attract guys, and then rate them one star after dating/sleeping with them. We see a similar theme in PTSDee, where she assumes she's in a relationship, gets shot down, and then seeks to 'ruin' the man in some way. She thinks she's in love with someone, gets slighted, and now they have bad blood.

I like the vengeful energy in Look What You Made Me Do, and I can relate it to Dee. She's a vengeful person, and that one line -- Look What You Made Me Do -- reflects how Dee often blames other people for her own violent actions.

I don't like your little games
Don't like your tilted stage
The role you made me play
Of the fool
No, I don't like you

This verse reminds me of her relationship with Dennis. He often tries to manipulate and control Dee, and he often makes her feel foolish, belittling her whenever he can. Dee plays the role of the fool, thanks to Dennis, and she hates him for it.

Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
[CW: manipulation, accidental sexual situation between father and daughter]

Dee holds grudges, and nothing ever seems to change her mind once she's decided that she wants revenge, or wants to feel superior. If Dee feels as though she has been slighted, she holds on to that offense and has to find a way to bring that person down to make herself feel better. For example, when she feels slighted by a man who shows regret after sleeping with her, she manipulates him, so he accidentally does a striptease for his daughter. When a woman takes a vacant seat that Dee has (in her mind) already claimed as hers, she holds onto her anger and then punches her in the face hours later. In both of these situations, Dee could easily walk away from the situation, and deal with her feelings in a healthy way, but she can't do that. Instead, she has to try and bring that person down so she feels vindicated.

She is capable of forgiveness, but only when it's towards the Gang, because she desperately wants to be a part of the group. For example, in The Gang Escapes, Dee falls off a ledge and threatens to sue the Gang. But the Gang shows kindness toward her, and because of that, she quickly forgives them. They have, in this moment, provided her with a sense of belonging, and made her feel accepted, and that's all she really wants.

What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?

Dee thinks that her safespace is at Paddy's Pub, and whenever she's with the Gang. In reality, however, Dee is most at peace whenever she is separated from the Gang and, specifically, Dennis. Dee is seen to be calmer and more competent when she isn't around her brother, who often attempts to tear her down. We see this in Season Thirteen, Episode One when Cindy joins the Gang, temporarily replacing her brother. While the Gang (sans Dennis) still works on schemes together, Cindy regards Dee in a way that is significantly less toxic. Dee is heard by Cindy, and respected, and as a result, Dee appears to be thriving rather than sinking. When Cindy puts Dee in charge of flirting with a security guard during a scheme, Dee is pleasantly surprised and comments that Dennis usually puts himself in charge while putting Dee on the lookout (probably while insulting her appearance). The situation isn't exactly wholesome, but it does have a short-lived positive impact on her self-esteem. Dee and Charlie also admit that they experience peer pressure and a need to belong within the group. Charlie also explains that he feels the need to pick on her just so he isn't picked on instead, further cementing the idea that Dee is better without this group of people who have made her the butt of their jokes. Unfortunately for Dee, however, negative attention is better than no attention at all. She fears being alone, so she puts up with their abuse just to belong somewhere.

What is a time where your character failed drastically at something and how did it impact them, what did they do about it?

Dee has failed, on multiple occasions, to become a professional actress and stand-up comedian. Thanks to her severe self-esteem issues and anxiety, Dee tends to dry-heave whenever she gets on stage. She puts too much pressure on herself and is so worried about doing well and impressing others that she makes herself sick. She deals with this failure by trying again and again. She tells Charlie that she has to put in her dues and take things one step at a time. She doesn't let her failure stop her from trying, but the problem is that she also refuses to see that she might not have the talent or confidence needed to become an actor. While some people might give up after failing so many times, Dee instead deludes herself into believing that she is skilled and talented. She is surprisingly determined, but refuses to accept criticism and makes no effort to reflect on how she could improve. She blames others for her failures and refuses to listen to those who might be able to help her improve, meaning that she will always be doomed to fail.

★ Player Information ★

Player Name: Clari
Pronouns: She/Her
Are you over 18?: Yes
Contact(s): awakened
Who Invited You?: Mods!
Current Characters: N/A
Permissions: Here
Writing Samples:
One
Two
Three

comments

She stands in the center of the stage, and her head is bowed. Her face is obscured by long, blonde hair. Slowly, she raises her eyes to the audience. There's darkness in her eyes and blood spattered on her face. Blood drenches her clothes, her claws, and her fur.

This is Carrie Blue, and she opens with a monologue: "You might be asking us if it was worth it in the end. All that carnage. All that horror, just to get even. We sought bloody revenge, and we weren't gonna stop until they killed us or we killed them. We fought. We bled. We tore flesh from bone and sent those motherfuckers straight to their maker.

Yeah, we got our revenge. But I'll let you decide if it was worth it in the end."

THE CURTAINS CLOSE

They reopen to a forest scene. We see Carrie as a child waldgeist sitting cross-legged on the ground. Her waldgeist mother sits on a log behind her, braiding Carrie's hair and singing a lullaby. They look happy and peaceful.

Carrie: Mama, do you think wishes can come true?
Mama Deer: Hmm. Why? Did you whisper a wish to the stars tonight, sweetpea?
Carrie: Mmhm. I might've.
Mama Deer: And are you going to tell me what you wished for?
Carrie: (laughs) Oh, mama. That's a secret! I can't tell you that, or else it won't come true.
Mama Deer: Now who told you that?
Carrie: (shrugs) ...Nobody.
Mama Deer: (laughs gently. She stands and joins her daughter on the ground, nudging her shoulder.) Then it can't be true, right?
Carrie: S'pose not. (Long, dramatic pause) Mama, tonight I wished that we'd be together forever.
Mama Deer: (A thoughtful pause) Forever's an awfully long time, dear girl. And nothing in life is guaranteed.
Carrie: I know. But I want it to come true so much.

THE CURTAINS CLOSE.

They reopen. Carrie and Mama Deer are sleeping when a rustle in the bushes wakes Mama Deer up. A dark figure holding a shotgun comes forward. He turns to the audience, flashing a smile. His teeth are gold. His eyes are gold too. And he has horns and a tail.

Mama shakes Carrie awake. The two run, but they're separated.

The sound of a shotgun is heard in the distance. Carrie races back to find Mama Deer lying face-first on the ground, dead. There's blood on her antlers.

The Man with the Golden Smile lights up a cigarette, takes a puff, then throws it on the ground. He uses a hoof to stomp it out. He's holding a hand to his waist. It looks like Mama Deer was able to stab him with her antlers before falling.

The Man with the Golden Smile: I don't kill kids. But we'll meet again when you're older. When you're a cold-blooded murderer just like that waldgeist trash on the ground there. I'll come for you. And I'll kill you then.

Enter: Silver Claw and Copper Tongue. They're obscured by shadows.

Silver Claw: Are you sure we should leave her here?

Copper Tongue: It could backfire....

The Man with the Golden Smile: I said I don't kill kids. And neither do you two, if you wanna keep your heads. Now let's go.

The trio exit the scene.

The child falls to her knees and wails.

ACT TWO: AMOUR ET MORT

The stage is dark again. A spotlight shines on Carrie Blue once more. She looks toward the audience.

Carrie Blue: But I wasn't the only one hurt by The Man with the Golden Smile and his gang of monster hunters. He and his crew hurt countless others too. They murdered. They tortured. They burned waldgeists at the stake and tortured manticores with ice-cold water. They hated monsters. They loathed monsters to their very core. And they made sure we knew it.

I wanna introduce you to someone. Her name? Jo Honeydoe. Her crime? Being a monster in a monstrous world. And her motive for revenge? Witnessing the death of her best friend.

ENTER: Jo Honeydoe. A spotlight shines upon her. She approaches the center of the stage and bows.

The stage lights up. Jo sits on a bed with a friend. They read magazines together. They talk about their lovers, pop music, and the latest hallway gossip at school. They're just two teenagers, enjoying their lives and doing the best they can.

While they sit together, chatting and laughing, the bedroom door bursts open. Jo jumps up from the bed, but her friend doesn't move. Copper Tongue, Silver Claw, and The Man with the Golden Smile step into the room. The Man with the Golden Smile points his shotgun at the two teenagers. Silver Claw and Copper Tongue draw their swords.

Silver Claw moves quickly. Jo's friend's neck is sliced open and blood sprays from the wound, drenching the bed and splashing against the walls. Jo's friend falls back, body lifeless.

Jo Honeydoe screams and is silenced only by the sound of gunfire.

The stage goes dark. The audience can hear the sound of a vital signs monitor.
The lights come back on to show Jo Honeydoe in a hospital bed. A nurse and a doctor stand by her bedside.

Nurse: How is this girl still alive? After being shot with a silver bullet?
Doctor: Will, Nurse Birdwhistle. Will has kept this kid alive. But after witnessing something so horrific... she has a long and arduous road ahead of her.

EXIT Nurse and Doctor.

Jo sits up in bed.

Jo: I'm sorry, my friend. How is it fair that you've died instead of me? I should have died. It should have been me. (They scream) IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MEEEE!

The stage goes dark.

Carrie Blue: And now, I want to introduce you to someone else. Her name? Kitty Virga. Her crime? Daring to love. Her motive for revenge? A massacre on her wedding day.

The curtains close.

They reopen to show a group of people. There's a beautiful woman in a wedding dress, her arm linked with a dashing young monster man. The bridal party surrounds them as they recite their vows to one another. Everyone looks happy and they all smile as the groom lifts the bride's veil and they kiss.

Suddenly, the church doors are kicked down -- it's the monster hunters and all three of them are packing heat.

The Man with the Golden Smile: What's going on here?
Silver Claw: Monsters getting married? What a goddamn fucking joke. Monsters can't love each other. We're hideous. Incapable of love. This is a goddamn abomination.
Copper Tongue: Shut the fuck up, Silver. You're just pissed no one ever wanted to marry you.
Silver Claw: You wanna die with this lot, asshole?
Copper Tongue: Hit a nerve, did I?
The Man with the Golden Smile: Stop! Both of you! Let's get this over with.

Kitty Virga's husband leaves her side and cautiously approaches the monster hunters.

Kitty: Simon, no! Don't!
The Man with the Golden Smile: You should listen to your girl, Simon. (He laughs) Y'know, Kitty, I've read all your news articles about us. You're one hell of a journalist. And, you know, I really liked your articles at first but they've become... rather unflattering as of late.
Kitty: I only tell the truth. I've been following you for years and... you killed those poor teens. Broke an oath, from what I hear. And now you've tracked me down...
The Man with the Golden Smile: Now I've tracked you down. No more Kitty Virga thought pieces. I'll almost miss reading them.
Kitty: You can silence me, but another monster will take my place. They'll pick up my pen, they'll continue my work, and they will expose your crimes. There are good journalists in this city, and they'll keep my legacy alive.
The Man with the Golden Smile: (Chuckles) You know what? I think I'll kill you last.

The Man with the Golden Smile shoots Simon in the head. The wedding guests scream and cry, and Kitty gasps despite trying to maintain her composure. The monster hunters shoot the bridal party, killing them all instantly. Kitty screams, covering her ears.

The Man with the Golden Gun removes a knife from his belt, roughly grabs a hold of Kitty's hair, and presses the knife against the woman's throat. At this moment, police sirens sound in the distance. The monster trio loses confidence and scatter, leaving Kitty standing alone and surrounded by her fallen friends and loved ones.

The stage goes dark, and all the audience can hear are distant sirens and the sound of panicked, shallow breathing.

ACT THREE: MEETING

The curtains open to reveal the hospital. Kitty Virga sits in a hospital hallway, gazing out of the window. She's all cleaned up now, but her hands are trembling and she looks visibly shellshocked. Slowly, she stands up just in time to see Jo Honeydoe moving down the hall.

Kitty: (She stands) Oh my god. You're... You're that kid, aren't you? Jo Honeydoe?
Jo: I guess so.
Kitty: You survived...
Jo: I don't know how. I shouldn't have...
Kitty: No, that's not true. Please, don't say that.
Jo: I heard about you. About your wedding. I'm sorry about that.

Kitty says nothing. The pair sit down together, gazing at the city lights. It takes Jo a while to open up, but she eventually does. Kitty learns that the hospital has been keeping Jo as an involuntary patient, observing the girl for months out of concern for her wellbeing. Kitty is astonished and tells Jo that all of Ryslig believed she had died on that terrible night. Jo says that's probably for the best, and Kitty tries to tell her that that isn't true.

Jo: I want to honor my friend. I wish there was something I could do.
Kitty: You'll find a way. I know you will.

ENTER: CARRIE BLUE. No one knows why she's there. She flicks open a lighter and takes a long drag of her cigarette. She blows smoke into the air very dramatically, like a Bond Girl.

Carrie: I know a way.

Jo and Kitty look up at the Waldgeist. They seem confused and a little frightened.

Jo: Tell me. Please.
Carrie: The only way to honor your friend is to kill those motherfuckers who murdered them.
Kitty: Revenge? No... that can't be the only way.
Carrie: If you believe in truth, then you should believe in justice too! And your loved ones? Your friends? They deserve justice, don't they? The Man with the Golden Smile must pay!

Jo and Kitty go pale. They remember HIM. Horrible memories come flooding back to them.

Jo: So... you think we should kill him?
Carrie: Him and those awful friends of his. We can't let them live...
Kitty: Because if we do, they'll just keep on killing.
Carrie: Exactly. That bastard. He killed my mama. Now let's break this kid outta here and head to the bar. We've got some planning to do.

Carrie, Kitty, and Jo start walking down the hospital hall. Some nurses try to stop them, and the trio pushes them aside. They run toward the exit, and into a waiting car. Carrie slams a hoof on the accelerator and the car takes off.

The curtains close.

They reopen, revealing a bar scene.

Carrie, Kitty, and Jo sit at the bar. They start discussing how they're going to get revenge on the Man with the Golden Smile and his partners in crime. Kitty and Jo seem unsure, but Carrie's been planning this for years. The only thing they need to figure out is where to find them.

Jo and Kitty leave to get some fresh air outside.

A human, sitting close by, turns to Carrie and clears her throat. Her name? Brooklyn Frisk. She takes a sip of her beer and sets it down, staring at the waldgeist. She speaks with a low, husky voice.

Brooklyn: I know where to find a Man with a Golden Smile.
Carrie: And who might you be?
Brooklyn: A friend. An enemy. It depends. You say you wanna know where to find the Man with the Golden Smile, and I can help you. But only if you treat me right.

Brooklyn pulls a box of cigarettes from her bag and offers a smoke to Carrie. Carrie plucks one from the box and puts it in her mouth. Brooklyn scoots in closer, flicking her lighter open and lighting the waldgeist's cigarette for her.

Brooklyn: So what'll it be?

Carrie blows smoke in the human's face. Brooklyn lights up her own cigarette and then blows smoke in Carrie's face. There's a lot of tension in the air.

Carrie: Tell me who you are, and we might just have a deal.

Brooklyn: The name's Brooklyn. Brooklyn Frisk. And once upon a time, I worked alongside that awful man. He was my lover.

Carrie: Your lover!?

Brooklyn: Yeah. I was younger then. My parents were killed by an arachne just before I met that golden bastard right here in this very bar. He got my head all messed up, talking about how he wanted to make the city safer for humans. I was younger then. I was stupid and naive. He loved me, and I thought he was the only monster who could. But then I got to know other monsters, and they were kind and good, and they spoke of a world where we all lived in peace instead of fighting and killing. That man... He found out, and let's just say he didn't approve of me fraternizing with the enemy.

Carrie asks Brooklyn why she's sharing this information. Brooklyn says that the Man with the Golden Smile must be put down for good because too many innocents have lost their lives, and she wants to help. But in order to get to him, they have to take out Silver Claw and Copper Tongue first. Brooklyn and Carrie gaze into each other's eyes for a very long time before Kitty interrupts. Kitty and Jo have returned. Kitty thinks she knows how to get to Silver Claw. Jo tells the gang that she wants to be the one who kills Silver Claw since Silver Claw was the one who took her friend's life. Carrie agrees, but only if they let her kill the Man with the Golden Smile.

After all, she has a Mama to avenge.

ACT FOUR: BROKEN CLAWS, TARNISHED COPPER

Carrie, Jo, Kitty, and Brooklyn arrive at a mansion on the outskirts of Bavan. They use their awesome monster powers to kill a bunch of sword-wielding human bodyguards before bursting into the mansion.

Silver Claw stands at the top of the stairs wearing a slinky red dress. Jo notices her first, and a siren begins to play as they stare at each other.

Silver Claw: Well, well, well. Look who it is. So you found me. But you bitches won't leave this place alive.

She draws two swords and shows them off, laughing. Carrie makes a cutting and witty joke about big swords that makes the gang laugh, but it seems to anger the already bitter and resentful Silver Claw who reveals her name to be SAVANNAH FEARING. She was brought to Ryslig and turned into a monster many years ago, and became bitter because she believes the Fog stole her good looks and winning personality.

Jo makes a very cool, witty comment about Savannah/Silver never having either of those things, which enrages Silver Claw even more.

Jo steps forward. Silver Claw slowly moves down the stairs as music begins to play. Jo and Silver Claw stare intensely at each other, and their hatred for each other can be felt by everyone. The two move in a slow circle before fighting. After an intense battle, Jo cuts off Silver Claw's Head. Blood sprays everywhere, Jo screams a victorious scream and the gang then ransacks her mansion.

They find out where Copper Tongue is located after finding her address book, and they head to his cabin in the woods. Copper Tongue emerges from his cabin. A siren sound begins to play as the gang and Copper Tongue stare at each other.

Copper Tongue sighs. He throws his beer to the ground and steps forward. He reveals that he, too, was brought to Ryslig many years ago. His family was brought to Ryslig as well, and they died so many times that they lost their memories, forgot their original lives, and forgot him as well. He became angry at the monsters and decided to murder them, taking his grief and rage out on them. He also learned how to kill monsters permanently, and felt that it was the right thing to do because he is sick of monsters losing their memories when they die.

Jo and Kitty feel particularly sad for him. Carrie remains stoic, and so does Brooklyn. Kitty asks for his true name. It's GARY GOLDENROD.

He tells the gang that he feels his colleagues have gone too far, going after Jo and her friend. Copper Tongue says that he does sympathize with Carrie's gang, but he feels he's in too deep now, and he won't go down without a fight.

Music plays.

Kitty steps up this time. Copper Tongue gives his condolences for the loss of her husband, friends, and loved ones. They fight and there's a lot of tree climbing and jumping and gymnastics. Eventually, Copper Tongue is injured. He says he knows this will be his only death.

Monsters who kill monsters only die once, after all.

He begs Kitty to put him out of his misery. He also tells her that The Man with the Golden Smile can be found at an abandoned factory on the outskirts of Bavan.

Kitty kills him. She promises that she'll tell his true story in the local newspaper.

Carrie, Jo, Kitty, and Brooklyn head over to Brooklyn's house to get some rest. Jo tells them about her friend and mentions how she dreams about them every night. Carrie asks her how she's feeling after killing Silver Claw and Jo says she doesn't feel much better at all. She says killing Silver Claw hasn't brought her friend back, but she's glad that she's off the streets and unable to kill anyone else.

Carrie tells some hilarious jokes, makes a few puns, and then talks about how she's been training for years and years to become stronger, all so she can achieve her goal: killing the Man with the Golden Smile. Carrie talks about Mama Deer, and how she died on the night Carrie made a wish that they'd always be together. Carrie says she feels like she tempted fate by telling Mama Deer her wish, and implies that it's her fault that Mama Deer died.

Jo says that isn't true and tells Carrie that it isn't her fault. Jo says she understands how much it hurts to lose someone you love and care for, however. She says she understands wanting to go back and change things in the hopes that doing so might save that person.

Jo and Kitty go to sleep. Brooklyn and Carrie discuss strategies. They get very close to one another and make some hilarious double entendres. Carrie and Brooklyn begin to make out, and as things get heated, an arrow flies through the window and cuts Brooklyn's cheek. She flinches, places a hand on her cheek, and the pair notice the arrow stuck in a wall. There's a note attached and it's from the Man with the Golden Smile.

Brooklyn reads the note out to Carrie.

He'll be waiting for them at the factory at dusk, tomorrow.

ACT FIVE: DEADLY REVELATION

Carrie, Jo, Kitty and Brooklyn arrive at the factory. The Man with the Golden Smile emerges from the shadows, laughing and applauding. He's a tall, burly, terrifying monster. A siren sound plays as Carrie and The Man with the Golden Smile glower at each other.

He congratulates the gang on defeating Copper and Silver and then says that he can't forgive them for killing his comrades.

He tells them that all monsters should die because they're all abominations. Carrie reminds him that he's a monster too, and he howls at the sky, throws his arms up in the air, and screams that he too deserves death. But he'll take as many monsters with him as he can. The gang all get ready to fight him, but he's incredibly strong. Jo gets flung to the side almost immediately, and Kitty gets knocked unconscious. It's up to Carrie and Brooklyn.

There's a glorious battle. Carrie chops the man's arm off, but somehow that doesn't weaken him. Blood flies everywhere, Brooklyn gets injured and only Carrie is left standing. Carrie makes some badass commentary, they continue to fight, and The Man with the Golden Smile falls only when Carrie stabs him with her antlers, doing exactly what her mother had done to him decades earlier.

Carrie: That's for killing my mama, bitch.

The Man with the Golden Smile falls to the ground and he warns them that it isn't over. He tells the gang that he'd been recruited by a human who had a deep and terrible hatred for all monsters.

This human takes in vulnerable monsters and turns them toward the light. Brooklyn says that he's been brainwashed, but The Man with the Golden Smile denies it and says he merely helped him see the truth.

The Man with The Golden Smile dies.

Carrie: Did you know about this?
Brooklyn: Not at all. It seems he had quite a few secrets of his own.

A human woman in a sailor's outfit approaches and applauds them before telling the group to follow her.

The Boss Awaits.

ACT SIX: LIGHTS OUT

The human woman guides the gang to a beach. There are dozens of bodyguards standing on the beach, all wearing sailor outfits and wielding knives and swords. The ninja sailors watch the gang warily but they don't attack. A deep, gravelly voice sounds from within the crowd, and the ninja sailors quickly step aside, creating a path. A burly, old pirate with massive muscles saunters down that path, approaching them while wearing a wide grin. He tips his pirate hat and congratulates them all on their tenacity.

Jo asks if it's true that he brainwashed the Man with the Golden Smile, Silver Claw, and Copper Tongue and gasps in horror when he laughs as though she just told a hilarious joke. He says that he did, indeed, brainwash those monsters. He reveals that he took vulnerable monsters under his wing, played on their weaknesses, manipulated them, and turned them into monster-killing machines.

He also reveals that he'd made a pact with an ancient goddess who gave him the power to kill monsters permanently. He was able to bestow that power onto others, including the tragic, villainous trio.

Jo says that he is, in fact, the true monster, and he merely laughs again. The Boss says that he's merely trying to survive and that while he's impressed by the gang, he's going to kill them all.

The ninja sailors run toward the gang, and another energetic and glorious fight ensues. Heads roll, and blood sprays everywhere. Carrie impales ninja sailors on her antlers and Brooklyn shoots them. Kitty and Jo kick butt, and while they all endure some injuries, they all come out on top.

The Boss steps forward. He throws his pirate hat on the ground, rips off his shirt, and yells very loudly before lunging toward them.

It takes all four monsters to defeat him. The gang finally kills him, cutting off his head and throwing it into the ocean. The gang is exhausted and covered in blood. Carrie tells them that they all should go home.

Jo questions this, announcing that she no longer has a home or a family. Kitty says she has no family either. Brooklyn agrees. Carrie tells they do have a family. They now have each other.

Carrie: I thought we might leave this situation as friends, but that's not entirely true. We're not friends. We're family.

Carrie puts out her hand. Jo places her hand on top of Carrie's, and Kitty places her hand on top of Jo's. Brooklyn places her hand on top of Kitty's and they shout 'FAMILY' before walking off into the sunset together.

THE CURTAINS CLOSE.

THEY OPEN on a bright, domestic scene. Brooklyn and Carrie sit at the kitchen table, eating together. They kiss and Carrie makes a hilarious joke. Kitty and Jo enter the scene. Jo says she's off to a concert with her new friends. Kitty says she wanted to go but she has so much work to do. She has to write about the events that have transpired.

The four of them laugh when suddenly an arrow flies through the window. It barely misses Jo and embeds itself in the wall.

Carrie gets up and wrenches the arrow out of the wall. There's a note attached.

Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Dee gets long, white bull horns purely for physical comedy purposes. She'll also have a long tail, like so, but it will be a shimmery gold. She'll also have claws and fangs!
Role Reasoning: This role suits Dee best because she is often selfishly motivated, cruel, inconsiderate, and thoughtless. She isn't above manipulating people and situations for her own benefit, and whenever she feels slighted, she will react in ways that are usually far worse than the perceived slight against her. Dee often numbs herself to her own terrible behavior, deluding herself into believing that she is a good person. She can be downright sadistic and remorseless and fails to understand why her actions are bad because she tricks herself into believing that she's justified in some way. She is a schemer and will do whatever she feels she needs to do to achieve a (typically money-oriented) goal. She often believes the worst of people and makes negative assumptions about others based on her own traumatic experiences. She's often too caught up in her own selfish schemes to recognize genuine opportunities to build healthy relationships, and chooses to act cruelly toward people who show kindness to her, sabotaging any attempt to find happiness.

Who Invited You?: Modlies!
Current Characters: N/A
Permissions: Here
Writing Samples:
One
Two
Three

comments

AFFILIATION: FOG
Address: U 509, 38-8 Apartments, Bavan
Employment: Paddy's Pub (owner)

Mandatory Changes

[CW: DESCRIPTION OF A CORPSE-LIKE APPEARANCE, BONES, GORE AND ROT]

+ Upper and lower canine teeth elongated into sharp fangs.

+ Dee's fingernails grow faster and in a more claw-like shape. She often paints them black or white, and while she's good at frequently maintaining them, she also prefers to keep them long.

+ Stag-like, bone-white antlers that shed once a year. They resemble the antlers of a red deer.

+ White, deer-like pointed ears.

+ Dee is undead. Therefore, she is cold to the touch and has the pale pallor of someone who has only just passed away. The more she neglects her monstrous hunger, the worse she begins to appear. Dee's skin becomes more ashen, her fur becomes dull and thin, and purplish-red bruising slowly begins to appear. She will slowly begin to experience rot, skin tightening, and more defined bones if she's truly neglectful. Dee is very aware of this, and so she eats all the time. Thus, her default tends to be a state of Pallor Mortis.

+ A vulnerability to silver and fire. Silver burns Dee if it touches her skin, and if she's shot or stabbed with something made of silver, it can be deadly for her. Being set on fire will significantly weaken Dee and can kill her.

+ Dee possesses a sharp sense of hearing and excellent night vision. However, because her eyes are sensitive to light, it's hard for her to go out in the sun. As a result, Dee is nocturnal, and it's extremely rare to see her out during the day.

+ Dee can remove her internal organs. However, she has not attempted this because it freaks her out.

+ As a waldgeist, Dee has a hunger that can never be satiated. She is always hungry, no matter how much she eats. She can't process food other than meat. She will eat other food, but it tends to feel heavy on her stomach, whereas meat does not.

Additional Changes

[CW: DESCRIPTION OF ROT, GORE, AND BONES]

+ A Fog Form: Dee's antlers grow, becoming a tangled mass of sharp prongs. Her face is skull-like, her limbs long, and flesh rotting from her body, exposing bones and muscle. Coagulated blood drips from a maw of sharp, needle-like teeth, and her unnaturally long fingers are tipped with curved claws. This form is capable of standing on its hind legs, but it's easier for her to walk on all fours.

+ Dee has short, white fur covering most of her body. It covers her hands, shoulders, arms, legs, and hips. It also lightly grows along her clavicle.

+ [CW: Picture of prosthetic makeup bone spikes] Bony, spike-like protrusions on the arms, shoulders, or back: Dee has a sharp, spiky bone protruding from each wrist. When her arm is hanging by her side, the bone spike points behind her like a warning to anyone who might consider sneaking up on her. Dee likes to paint these bones in all kinds of colors, as this helps her feel better about them. Dee has a row of sharp, bony spikes running down her back. And she also has a short bone spike protruding from where the shoulder meets the clavicle.

+ A long, fluffy white tail, with black fur at the end. This appears as more of a honey colour thanks to Dee bleaching it.

+ Spindly deer-like legs and split hooves instead of feet.

+ Immunity to the cold.

+ The ability to paralyze a human with fear so long as eye contact is maintained.

+ A greedy nature.

+ An icy touch, cold enough to cause frostbite in humans if physical contact is made for an extended period of time.

Event related Changes

+ After Felfri, the Fourth God added a cybernetic aesthetic to Dee's antlers, and she now has thin, red fibreoptic lights running through them.
+ After the October 2023 event, Dee has red hibiscus flowers growing from her antlers. Each flower's stamen is made up of the same fibreoptic lights running through her antlers.
I'm trying to relax.

-- Season Eleven, Episode Nine

Dennis is Dee's twin brother, born three minutes after her. Dennis often disregards Dee's feelings, and if Mac isn't belittling her, Dennis is usually doing it for him. He tends to encourage her nickname, 'bird,' and often does not listen to her. The twins are co-dependent in that they rarely seem to leave each other's side despite constantly fighting with one another. Dennis is toxic towards Dee, verbally abusing her and even threatening to skin her and chop her up into tiny pieces (Season Ten, Episode Three). When he threatens her in that episode, she appears to be genuinely fearful of him. Dee lets Dennis and Mac stay in her apartment after they burn their apartment down, even though it significantly impacts her own personal comfort. She has to share a bed with them and is seen getting frustrated by them because they fail to keep her apartment clean. They show no respect for her home or her, but Dee continues to allow them to stay with her. This is all due to her desire to belong and be a part of a group, even if it isn't a particularly healthy group.

Dennis also has a strong desire to exert control over his sister and doesn't like seeing her succeed. We can see this in Season Nine, Episode One, when Dennis refuses to encourage her stand-up career with the rest of the Gang when she's going through depression. He demonstrates that he cannot support anything that might result in her rising above him. Instead, he thinks that he knows what's best for Dee and tries to sabotage her potential career so she'll go along with his idea instead. When he starts to suspect that she's doing well as a stand-up comedian, he breaks down.

The twins often fight, but they also mirror each other's qualities. They are both delusional and narcissistic. Dennis believes himself to be perfect and has convinced himself that he is irresistible when he is creepy, vain, and unhinged. And Dee has convinced herself that she is a good actress who has been unfairly overlooked when in reality, she is unfunny and often relies on offensive stereotypes for her 'comedy.' Dee is often insecure about her looks, and Dennis makes jabs that help fuel this insecurity, often mocking her appearance or calling her names.

Cindy: Dee, we're going to need to distract Murphy's security guard with a pretty blonde.
Dee: Okay. You want me to go find one?
-- Season 13, Episode 1

Despite the abuse, Deandra never leaves Dennis because she wants to belong, and negative attention is better than no attention at all. However, Dee tends to function better when she's away from Dennis. When Dennis leaves at the end of season 12 and Cindy joins the Gang, Dee appears to be thriving under her guidance and leadership. She seems a little more competent and willing to listen when faced with someone who doesn't constantly demean her. She even reacts with a kind of satisfied shock when Cindy suggests that Dee do the distracting/flirting during a scheme since Dennis would never designate such a task to her. Instead, he'd call her a big dumb uncoordinated bird or say something cruel and demeaning towards her. When she and Charlie go out on a double date with two wealthy siblings, she is seen laughing and genuinely having a good time which, again, is a rarity for her. Over the years, she has come to believe (or, at least, accept) Dennis's constant put-downs. However, she also tends to mirror Dennis's traits, whether calling herself a Golden Goddess when she feels particularly insulted by strangers or acting in a predatory and/or aggressive manner. She likes to talk herself up to strangers because she desperately wants attention and validation.

Dee understands her brother and his motives. She understands how he thinks, demonstrated in 'The Gang Go To Hell: Part One.' Dee reveals that she manipulates people into sleeping with her in a similar fashion to Dennis. She describes Dennis's method of manipulation with ease, much to his surprise. Her manipulation method is different, but both siblings demonstrate toxic, abusive, predatory mindsets regarding sex and relationships, and they speak about these things like they're acceptable and normal. However, Dee occasionally shows disapproval of Dennis and his creepy tendencies and doesn't harass people the way Dennis does. She is capable of attracting people and isn't completely off-putting the way Dennis is. She calls him a sociopath when he discusses his method for manipulating women to sleep with him, and then several seasons later admits to bullying men for sex which shows that she is a hypocrite and just as bad as her brother -- only in a different way. Dee and Dennis are also happy to join forces if they have a common goal in mind -- and it's usually money-orientated. They are capable of working together and have done so in the past. They are also a terrifying duo during the board game that the Gang created named CharDee MacDennis, and they work so well together that they have never lost the game.

Dee knows where to hit Dennis where it hurts. In Frank Falls Out the Window (Season Eleven, Episode Two), Dennis criticizes Dee's abilities as an actress and tells her to give it up because she's terrible at it. She appears to become quietly angry with Dennis and in return, begins to criticize his body and his looks. She knows that negative feedback on his physique hits him hard, and she plays on that. She also accuses him of wanting to become a vet solely to keep the skins, which indicates that she probably thinks he's a serial killer.

In The Gang Goes To Hell: Part Two, Dennis tells Dee that he loves her, and her response is 'whatever' before she goes underwater to die. This indicates that she doesn't believe him or wish to acknowledge his words. After enduring years of soul-crushing abuse, it isn't surprising that Dee rejects his words. Still, she takes his hand during what she believes is the final moment of her life. Dennis also clings to his sister when they dig up their mother's body in Season Eight, Episode Six. And Dennis demonstrates concern for Dee, as seen in Dee Gives Birth (Season Six, Episode Twelve). He shows that concern in a toxic way, but he still demands care for his sister and shows concern over her potentially overexerting and hurting herself. Dee doesn't seem to reciprocate this concern for him. She is happier throwing stew in his face when he's feeling ill than showing concern for him. If there is any love in Dee's heart for her brother, it's hidden under years of resentment and anger.

Frank Reynolds

Dee:You made me dig up my dead mother because I said you were losing it!?
-- Season Eight, Episode Six

Frank is not Dee and Dennis's biological father, but they believed him to be up until Season Two, Episode Ten. Frank is a successful businessman who has gained wealth through various illegal operations and schemes. He is a manipulator, and Dee has clearly picked up her scheming, manipulating tendencies from him. Dee doesn't have much love for Frank at all. She is pretty comfortable taking advantage of Frank for money, like when he develops amnesia after a fall in Frank Falls Out the Window (Season Eleven, Episode Two). His amnesia has him believing that it is 2006 -- the year he randomly appeared to tell the twins that he was divorcing their mother and giving his money to charity. Dee and Dennis see this as an opportunity to swindle him out of his money. The only reason Dee and Dennis keep Frank around is that he has the money to keep Paddy's Pub afloat, fund their schemes and get them out of trouble. The only reason Dee has a nice apartment while working minimum wage is that Frank pays her rent, as revealed in The Great Recession (Season Five, Episode Three).

Dee:You are abusive, and you smell like warm meat, and I want you to leave me alone, 'cause this is really important for me.
-- Season Five, Episode 11

So she puts up with him, even though he is abusive towards her, sabotages her opportunities, and often makes negative remarks about her age and looks. She knows she'd be screwed financially without him, and she wants to keep living in comfort. She could cut contact with him, and it would be healthier for her if she did so, but that would mean losing her (limited) financial independence. Along with Dennis and Mac, he helps encourage her insecurities and has contributed to her declining mental health.

Dee and Frank have joined forces to try and manipulate and scam people. In Dennis and Dee's Mom is Dead (Episode Three, Season Three), Dee and Frank try to scam Bruce Mathis (Dee's biological father) out of his money, and they are willing to get married just to achieve this goal. Frank is happy to train his daughter to fight the daughter of his nemesis in Hundred Dollar Baby (Season Two, Episode Five). Frank has zero regard for Dee's boundaries and no respect for her as a person. It is revealed in the Christmas episode that Frank used to buy gifts that Dennis and Dee wanted, and he'd keep them for himself. He would make a point of showing them the gifts and misusing them just to torment the twins further. Dee thinks he's an asshole and never seems to call him Dad. Instead, she calls him Frank, which indicates that she has trouble seeing him as a father figure.

Barbara Reynolds

Barbara Reynolds is Dee and Dennis' mother. Despite being a twin, Barbara describes Dee as a disappointment and a mistake while showing favoritism towards her brother. Dee's mother has always been cold and emotionally abusive towards her. For example, at one point, Dee casually reveals that her mother once told her she wasn't pretty enough to enter beauty pageants, so Dee would enter them herself to prove to her mother that she was pretty enough (Season Seven, Episode Three). It was a cry for attention and validation that, ultimately, got ignored. Throughout Dee's life, her mother also insisted that "worst is first." Dee was born three minutes before her twin brother, Dennis, apparently making her the worst twin, and nothing Dee did could change her mind. When Barbara dies, she leaves her daughter nothing and calls her a disappointment and a mistake in the Will. Barbara leaves Dennis the mansion, reflecting the favoritism bestowed on Dee's brother. Dee's constant need for validation and attention clearly stems from the emotional abuse she endured from her mother. Dee wants to become a famous actress because she wants to prove to her mother that she's wrong. She wants to prove that she isn't a mistake or a disappointment and that she is worthy of love and attention.

Dee was raised in a wealthy household and believes herself to be 'upper class' despite being crass and vulgar. This belief that she is upper class was likely instilled into her by her mother. It is revealed in Episode Eight of Season Six that Dee didn't attend Barbara's funeral, indicating that she hates her mother.

Charlie Kelly

Dee: You're calming me down, and we're good at this together.
-- Season Ten, Episode Six

Charlie is probably the closest Dee has to an actual friend within the Gang. Dee and Charlie can be rude to each other, and they aren't afraid to snipe at each other, but Charlie also admits that sometimes the other guys make him do things that aren't really him. He also admits that he only calls Dee a bird and picks on her because he doesn't want the guys to do it to him. They admit that they only do awful things to each other because it's what the rest of the Gang would do, and they both desperately want to fit in. In the Gang Misses the Boat (Season Ten, Episode Six) we see her at her most relaxed, and she comes off as pretty normal. She gives Charlie advice about his food choices (he doesn't have to eat beaks). When Charlie manages to order a regular chicken sandwich, she's supportive and even tells him that she's proud of him. We see a rare, friendlier side of Dee where she isn't weighed down by her constant need to seek approval from the others. When she's away from the Gang, she is seen having a good time and, again, this is a rarity for her. Dee also shows concern for Charlie when he injures himself during Chardee MacDennis 2: Electric Boogaloo. Out of everyone in the Gang, she appears to look out for Charlie the most because she seems to like him that little bit more. When she's on her own with Charlie, she occasionally demonstrates an ability to care, and a calmer nature that seems to get snuffed out by all of her toxic, negative qualities.

That said, she and Charlie can be pretty toxic as well. Dee appears to take pleasure in Charlie's stalking tendencies and will drive him around to find the Waitress if he asks. Dee likes watching other people fail in life because it makes her feel better about herself, and she outright admits that she enjoys watching the dumpster fire that is Charlie and the Waitress. Dee gives Charlie a Valentine's Day gift in The Gang Tend Bar (Season Twelve, Episode Eight), and then threatens everyone with anthrax when he doesn't reciprocate. It is also revealed, in Time's Up for the Gang (Season Thirteen, Episode Four), that Dee has sexually assaulted Charlie. And worst of all, she doesn't seem to understand what she did wrong until it is explained to her. Dee has a tendency to ruin things for herself, and she sabotages the most healthy relationship she has because of her lack of emotional intelligence, and her entitled nature.

Mac

Mac often instigates the abuse directed at Dee. The only reason they interact with each other at all is because of their relationship with Dennis. Mac is often repulsed by Dee and makes no secret of that fact. Dee, in turn, is often frustrated by Mac and his negative remarks about her. When Dee tries to contribute to a conversation, Mac often tells her that no one gives a shit. She usually responds to Mac by becoming quietly angry, letting the moment pass but rolling her eyes or looking at him in irritation. Sometimes, she becomes more vocal in her anger but is often quickly dismissed. Mac shows zero concern for Dee and confesses that he did nothing when he thought Dee was going to commit suicide. Dee makes comments that hint at a suicidal nature in Paddy's Has a Jumper (Season Fourteen, Episode Eight), and Mac responds by mocking her.

There are rare occasions when Dee and Mac see eye to eye, and during these moments, they become fairly amicable. There's a passing moment between them in the episode Charlie Catches a Leprechaun (Season Eleven, Episode Eight) where they're both excited over buying a flute and they talk it over happily. In The Gang Goes to a Water Park (Season Twelve, Episode Two), Mac and Dee decide to split from the group so they can ride their favorite ride once before people start peeing in the water. Then they plan on relaxing, presumably hanging out together. They seem to be enjoying themselves like normal people... until they get stuck in the water slide. Around Mac, she also demonstrates a surprisingly open mind and supportive nature, despite her other toxic traits. She is supportive of Mac's homosexuality and tells him that he should come out of the closet because he'll feel better when he does (Season Twelve, Episode Six). She does have an unfortunate tendency to use homophobic and transphobic language around Mac, though she doesn't appear to do it as much as she gets older, indicating a small level of personal growth and maturity as she ages. Despite some of the shit that comes out of her mouth, she appears to be legitimately supportive of Mac. She also supports gay marriage and argues in favor of it in earlier seasons.

Mac and Dee are brought together only because of their relationship with Dennis. They are as toxic and abusive as the rest of the Gang, but Dee tolerates Mac because she desperately wants to fit in. She is aware that she has no friends, and she doesn't want to be alone, so she'd rather put up with Mac (and the rest of the Gang) than be on her own.

Character Personality Through Key Moments

(2+) Positive Experiences:.

+ Dee is usually an unkind, rude, manipulative trash human. However, she does demonstrate an ability to be supportive, kind, and accepting towards others at times. She is happy to become a surrogate mother for a trans woman in Season Six. Although she was most likely motivated by money more than anything else, it demonstrates an open mind and a shockingly supportive, thoughtful side that she rarely ever shows. She was willing to carry a child for 9 months for a childless couple when she could have tried to make that money any other way, and that's a nice thing to do. Instead of sabotaging and destroying lives, she brought two people joy and happiness.

When she has the child, she actually appears to be happy, and seems to radiate love. It's surprisingly tender for someone like Dee, who is often crass, selfish, and angry.

+ Dee is seen to be calmer and more competent when she isn't around Dennis. As mentioned earlier, we see this in Season Thirteen, Episode One when Cindy joins the Gang. While they still work on schemes together, Cindy regards Dee in a way that is significantly less toxic. Dee is heard by Cindy, and respected, and as a result, Dee appears to be thriving.

+ As mentioned earlier, Dee and Charlie's outing during The Gang Misses the Boat is a positive experience for Dee because they admit that they experience peer pressure and a need to belong within the group. Dee demonstrates an ability to be a supportive, helpful friend. She also demonstrates a fun-loving side, as she and Charlie seem to be enjoying each other's company and encouraging each other's creative sides. She even admits that she likes listening to his music.

+ She demonstrates an ability to actually grow as a person. In The Gang Solves the Bathroom Problem, Dee and Mac start arguing because he's using her bathroom. It becomes a big argument that touches on lgbtqia+ issues, and towards the end of the episode, Dee suggests that, perhaps, they should focus on treating people the way they'd like to be treated. Unfortunately, she is immediately shot down by the rest of the Gang and scolded for interrupting them. This, again, proves that she is capable of becoming a semi-decent human being without the Gang. It is clear that she is capable of thinking critically and choosing to make good choices, but the rest of the Gang stifle her and rob her of that personal growth.

+ In multiple episodes, she acts as a voice of reason and calls people out on their illogical actions and absurd ways of thinking. She is capable of being just as ridiculous as the rest of the Gang, but she can be... somewhat logical at times. She ends up having to babysit the rest of her group in The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot, telling Mac's mom not to smoke on the plane while trying to keep Artemis and the Waitress in line. Does she succeed? No... Not really. But she tries. She questions Charlie when he tests the cheese in the mouse traps by eating them. She also questions the Gang when they keep climbing over a tall fence when there's an unlocked gate that they could use.

(2+) Negative Experiences:

Cindy: They're just gonna go back to treating you like shit the minute I leave. Come on, us ladies - we've got to stick together.
Dee:: Yeah, yeah, I hear what you're saying, but I kind of like being the only woman. 'Cause it makes me feel special.
-- Season 13, episode 1

- Dee is emotionally numb and co-dependent. In Season Thirteen, Episode One, Dennis returns and Dee hesitantly accepts him into the group again. Cindy protests and tries to convince Dee that she doesn't want him back because she'll only be abused again. However, Dee goes back anyway. She likes feeling unique and special, and seeks that feeling in any way that she can, even if it means enduring abuse. She doesn't seem to be able to accept a life without the Gang and without their negativity.

Cindy:And you, Dee, you just sat back and watched the whole thing happen because you are so numb to this kind of behavior that it doesn't even register to you as odd.
-- Season 13, Episode 1

- As pointed out by Cindy, Dee is so emotionally numb to the Gang's behavior, that sometimes she'll accept their actions and words without question. In The Gang Misses the Boat (Season Ten, Episode Six), Charlie admits that he feels compelled to call her a bird, and Dee nods and accepts this as though it's perfectly normal. In Chardee Macdennis (Season Seven, Episode Seven), it is revealed that Dee endured two hours of emotional battery as a part of a game that they were playing. Charlie reveals that the stuff they said to her was "the kind of stuff that cuts you to your core." She held it together, numbing herself to these reportedly brutal personal insults. However, Charlie also reveals that she fell into a deep depressive state for a month afterward.

- Dee is prone to severe depressive episodes, as highlighted in The Gang Broke Dee (Season Nine, Episode One). In this episode, Dee fully anticipates the Gang's insults and tells them that she might as well throw herself in front of a bus "because I'm so ugly I can't even get a bus to hit on me." In the same episode, Dee performs stand-up, and her humor is largely self-deprecating, indicating a high level of self-loathing and insecurity. During this episode, the Gang reacts to her depression by playing a trick on her to prove that she can sink lower than she already has.

- Dee has suicidal tendencies. In Chardee Macdennis (Season Seven, Episode Seven), and Paddy's Has a Jumper (Season Fourteen, Episode Eight), it is hinted that she has contemplated suicide. Dee's mental state appears to deteriorate over time, and she becomes angrier and more vindictive as the show progresses. This deterioration is likely a result of the Gang's abuse and her growing insecurities. Dennis has threatened to kill her and "chop her up." She's also been physically/sexually assaulted by Mac (something she seems to casually accept during Time's Up for the Gang). This kind of stuff would have a significant negative impact on one's mental health.

- Dee is angry, vindictive, and violent with a hair-trigger temper. As seen in multiple episodes, she demonstrates that she is more than capable of being a selfish, abusive person. And if she feels slighted by a man who shows regret after sleeping with her, she'll manipulate him, so he accidentally does a striptease for his daughter. Even the Gang points out that Dee hit rock bottom by doing that last one, and she responds by saying she doesn't want to think about it. Again, she numbs herself to her terrible actions, and deludes herself into thinking that she's a good person when she really isn't at all. She can be downright sociopathic and remorseless, failing to understand why she might be awful because she tricks herself into believing that her actions are justified. When someone makes a comment about her marital status in The Gang Gets New Wheels (Season Thirteen, Episode Five), Dee immediately goes from friendly and playful to aggressive and tries to destroy the person's marriage. She appears to think that this is a perfectly reasonable response, too. She also burned a college roommate for 'copying her' and was briefly institutionalized, as revealed in Gun Fever Too: Still Hot (Season Nine, Episode Two). When this is pointed out to her, she responds in anger and threatens violence.

- Dee is narcissistic, jealous, and selfish. For example, in Who Pooped the Bed (Season Four, Episode Seven), Dee decides that she wants to reenact the friendships portrayed in Sex and the City.

She hates seeing people -- especially other women -- succeeding because it highlights that her life is a neverending dumpster fire, littered with failures and rejections. So when she finds out that an old friend from high school, who was bullied alongside her, is now a successful fashion designer, Dee makes it her mission to show the woman up because she doesn't like being perceived as a bigger loser than someone she used to look down upon.

- Dee is delusional, self-sabotaging, and incompetent. Dee also tends to be in denial about many things, such as her acting abilities. She's deluded herself into believing that she's a good actress and believes that people expect her to be funny all the time. She's also tricked herself into believing that she can still succeed as an actress and has claimed to be "a kind, generous, and good-natured lady" when she is far from it. As an actress, she's grossly incompetent, shameless, and offensive. She believes herself to be funny when she's usually pretty awful. She also has this terrible habit of creating "characters" that are generally offensive stereotypes. Every time Dee lands herself a role in a movie, she becomes a diva and acts dismissively towards people. She doesn't handle pressure very well either, which often causes her to sabotage her chances of succeeding. She becomes overwhelmed by her need to impress people, gets nervous, and starts gagging or vomiting.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers: None!
• Blood Type: Paleblood
• Omen: An ostrich
• Blessed Day: August 18
• Patron Pthumerian: Mariana
• Blood Power Manifestation: Dee's inability to listen to people, and her general incompetence will mean she won't have a handle on her abilities for a long time. She will develop telepathic abilities, but they will backfire on her because she'll keep accidentally sending her thoughts out to people. So, during a scheme or an attempt to manipulate someone, she may end up revealing her intentions by accident.

She'll have a dream walker ability, but again, she'll keep slipping into people's dreams by accident and won't have any real control for a long time.

Writing Samples

One: [CW: General vulgarity on Dee's part] TDM Thread with Rose

Two: [CW: Blood, Gore, Light body horror] Ryslig TDM Thread with Ronstadt

Three: [CW: Mention of stalking] Bakerstreet Thread with Charlie

The Player

• Player Name: Clari
• Player Age: 36
• Player Contact: awakened @ plurk, PM
• Permissions: Here. This comes with an opt-out because I'm aware that Dee is awful, and that her canon deals with a lot of potentially triggering content. I also plan on toning down certain aspects of her character and canon to make her more palatable.

Other Characters

Lucille Sharpe - blackmothwings

Link to Character 1 overall AC: Here

comments
